Conwy Biodiversity Week

BIODIVERSITY Could well be one of the buzzwords of our time.

But it certainly isn’t here. It’s just a word. A name. And its part of an All Wales Biodiversity Week, which is being celebrated by Conwy County Borough Council.

Anne Butler is part of the Biodiversity team. I spoke to her for Tudno FM about the week. (File is MP3 and is 15 minutes long, at 96kbps – about 10mb in size)

Some of the events are:

Gasp at the amazing Honeycomb reef at Llanddulas, near Beach Caravan Park, Beach House Road. Tuesday 9th June, 6pm

Look out for seaside treasures on the Beach Clean and Comb, Pensarn beach, Thursday 11th June, 6.30pm.

Learn all about the salmon hatching and freshwater pearl mussel programme at the Maerdy Salmon Hatchery, Wednesday 10th June, 6.30pm.

I’m sure they look forward to seeing you there. For more information, go to the website or click here to download the programme (PDF File, and needs the PDF reader)

Should be a good week or so.

Concorde

THIS blog is supposed to be about my photography, and it is for the most of it. But I do work in three (or four) mediums: photography, internet, video if you count it and audio for my radio work.

So, I thought i would share some of my radio work. A few weeks ago, it was the 40th anniversary of Concorde. Concorde was the fastest and possibly most recognisable of jet airliners, ever. I can’t say the 20th century, because air travel was invented in the 20th century, therefore its pointless.

Legend Of The Skies

I think thats instantly recognisable. This is G-BOAC, based in Manchester Airport. G-BOAC is one of the legends of the skies for many reasons. One primary one being that it was the first to do four transatlantic flights in one day.

I spoke to Russell Craig from Manchester Airport about Concorde on it’s 40th birthday:

What will be the next big thing in jet airliners?
